Ipswich hit the jackpot with “battering ram” star who’s worth way more than Philogene

Ipswich hit the jackpot with “battering ram” star who’s worth way more than Philogene.

As the season nears its midpoint, Ipswich Town appears to be on track.

Despite being in the relegation zone, Kieran McKenna’s team has shown improvement in recent weeks and is within reach of safety.

Furthermore, with the transfer window in full swing, the club has the opportunity to enhance the squad and improve their prospects of survival.

However, while reinforcements will surely be beneficial, we doubt they will bring in anyone more important than one of their present players, notably Jadan Philogene.

Ipswich’s January deals

With so much at stake, it was expected that Ipswich would be active in the transfer market this month, and so far, they have been.

Just five days into the transfer window, Atalanta defender Ben Godfrey joined the club on loan until the end of the season. Despite struggling in Serie A, this may be a great deal.

The former Everton player has 112 Premier League appearances and two England caps. He can play throughout the backline and defensive midfield as needed.

That being said, while the York-born defender will surely provide some solidity to the Tractor Boys, he will not provide as much excitement as the club’s second signing, Jaden Philogene.

The £20 million teenager has not yet officially joined the club, but reports from insiders, including Fabrizio Romano, suggest he will soon.

Despite having only 334 minutes of top-flight football experience, the player’s impressive performance of 12 goals and six assists in 32 Championship matches for Hull City last season may justify the high cost.

However, there is a current Ipswich star who spent time with the Tigers last season and is worth significantly more than £20 million.

The Ipswich star is worth millions more than Philogene.

So, to get right to the point, it should come as no surprise that the player in question is Liam Delap.

According to Football Transfers, the former Manchester City prospect, who cost £20 million in the summer, is now valued at up to €41.3 million. This equates to around £34.77 million, which is £14.77 million more than Philogene’s expected price.

While it is undoubtedly a large sum of money, it might be argued that the Englishman is worth even more, given his performance this season.

Delap’s unreal 24/25
Appearances 20
Starts 18
Minutes 1469′
Goals 8
Assists 2
Goal Involvements per Match 0.50
Minutes per Goal Involvement 146.9′

Despite playing for a relegation-threatened team and having limited top-flight experience, the remarkable “one-man battering ram,” as called by Opta Analyst, has scored eight goals and contributed two assists in only 20 games, totaling 1469 minutes.

That means that the 21-year-old wonder is currently averaging a goal every other game, or every 146.9 minutes, which is just incredible for a squad fighting for its survival.

Finally, there is little doubt that Delap is Ipswich’s finest player this season, and if they can stay up, the sky is the limit for his potential value.
