Everton eyeing move for £100k-p/w starlet who can be better than KDH
Although Everton manager David Moyes may have had the worst start to his second stint in charge after losing the opening game, it appears that he is serious about making a move.
Perhaps it was not shocking that they lost to Aston Villa, but it was another game when the Goodison Park team failed to score.
With only 15 goals in 20 games this season, the Toffees are the Premier League’s lowest side in terms of goals scored.
Moyes is putting a lot of effort into solving this problem. Ernest Nuamah, a young player from Lyon, is expected to be his first acquisition and would cost the team around €20 million (£17 million).
He is expected to enter at the age of 21 as a young player who will have time to mature under the Scottish manager. But the real question is, will there be additional signings in the coming weeks?
The 61-year-old seems to be aiming for a Chelsea misfit.
It’s no secret that Moyes wants to target Chelsea for his next acquisition; in recent weeks, Ben Chilwell and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have both drawn interest.
In order to give the two a lifeline before the second half of the season, the management is considering loaning them to Merseyside.
According to The Boot Room, Moyes is now also considering a third Chelsea player, Carney Chukwuemeka, as he looks to expand his midfield options before the transfer season ends.
The young player is reportedly a top target, and any price Chelsea is willing to pay to acquire him will probably be weighed against their desire to re-sign Armando Broja, who is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to injury.
However, Borussia Dortmund was eager to make a move for the young player last week, so Everton may have competition for Chukwuemeka’s signature.

It may be one of his best transfer-market decisions if Moyes can persuade him that Everton is the ideal fit for him at this point in his career.
The Englishman made his debut with Aston Villa during the 2020–21 season, and he quickly made an impression. The following season, the midfielder started to get more first-team opportunities under Steven Gerrard.
He did, in fact, make 14 senior appearances for the team, and he appeared to have the potential to be the next great thing to come out of the Villa academy.
Paul Merson lavished the midfielder with praise during that season’s first match against Brentford, saying: “He has a bright future.” In the first half, he was excellent. He was moving around the field with ease.
He is going to be a huge star. He moves across the field with ease. He’s a good size. He gets the ball. Without the ball, he searches for it and sprints.
In anticipation of 2022–2023, Gerrard accepted a £20 million offer from Chelsea for Chukwuemeka after the player was left off Aston Villa’s preseason squad for a trip to Austria because he had not signed a new contract.
Given that his contract was about to expire at the conclusion of the season, it initially appeared to be a smart decision, raising the possibility that Villa lost him for nothing.
It’s safe to say that his time at Stamford Bridge hasn’t quite gone as planned, despite his exceptional talent.
The 21-year-old has made just 32 appearances for the Blues since joining in 2022, with one goal and one assist, and has not established himself as a regular starter.
Due to his abundance of options, particularly in midfield, Enzo Maresca, the former Villa star, has only made five appearances this season, four of which have been in the Europa Conference League.
A deal to capture Chukwuemeka must undoubtedly be the top priority, even though Moyes is considering a temporary raid for Dewsbury-Hall this month.
Even though he hasn’t played as much recently, his age and enormous potential make him a serious contender to surpass the former Leicester City star.
It is reasonable to review the 2022–23 season and compare the two players’ performances, given that they have hardly played this season and spent the 2023–24 campaign in different divisions.
Chukwuemeka outperformed Dewsbury-Hall in the Premier League that season, averaging a higher pass success rate (89% vs. 79%), being dribbled past less frequently (0.1 vs. 0.9), winning a larger percentage of total duels (58% vs. 52%), and losing possession less frequently (3.1 vs. 13.5).
Even though it may not be the best option, data from a few years ago shows that Chukwuemeka could be a fantastic addition, particularly defensively speaking when compared to Dewsbury-Hall. He is stronger out of possession and more difficult to dribble past, which makes him perfect for a relegation scrap.
After struggling to secure consistent first-team playing for two and a half years, the £100k-per-week talented player may utilize Everton as a springboard to revitalize his career.
There is no reason why the young player cannot play a significant role in the Toffees’ attempt to stay in the Premier League if Moyes can bring him back to his best and project confidence.
Perhaps the most significant transfer window in the club’s recent history is this one. After 133 years at Goodison Park, they will move into their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Docks next season, which cost about £800 million.
As a result, Everton must maintain their position in the top division. By making the correct decisions this month, Moyes will be able to assemble a team that can finish in the top half of the table the next season and avoid relegation.
The first step in this approach might be to sign Chukwuemeka and give him an opportunity to shine.
