Michael Stewart shares Rangers verdict live on BBC Sportscene in Celtic message.

Following Sunday, February 18,’s 3-0 victory against St Johnstone, Rangers’ ascent to the top of the Scottish Premiership has been acknowledged by Michael Stewart as “significant.”

James Tavernier and Mohamed Diomande’s goals sent the Bears out of McDiarmid Park with all three points, lifting them above Celtic in the standings for the first time since Philippe Clement took over.

Stewart acknowledged that the victory solidified their lead above Celtic, who on Saturday [17 February] lost to Kilmarnock at home once more.

Following the pivotal day in the Scottish Premiership, Stewart gave his assessment while speaking live from the McDiarmid Park field on BBC Sportscene on February 18.

The fact that it’s the first time they’ve been able to take the top spot since Philippe Clement entered the game, in his opinion, makes it noteworthy.

“It just continues the momentum that has been built up since that appointment.

“On the back of the disappointment for Celtic yesterday, it just helps to hammer home the ascendency that Rangers have got just now.”

Rangers go above Celtic in Scottish Premiership

In spite of the awful playing surface at McDiarmid Park, Clement’s team cruised to three points on a glorious afternoon in Perth.

Rangers had the task of finishing the game, and as Stewart noted, they did so with ease, with Celtic looking to be crumbling and the fans expected to go bonkers at Parkhead.

It’s insane what Clement has accomplished since joining on the same weekend the obscene video of Michael Beale surfaced in yet another Sunderland loss.

In retrospect, this Rangers team was doomed under Beale, and the Belgian and his team deserve a great deal of credit for making such a swift turnaround.

In two months, the club will play for another Scottish Premiership title, so perhaps this is the beginning of them truly picking up steam.
