Josh Windass, a former forward for the Rangers, has stated that Celtic’s Ibrox away allocation was originally canceled because they “kept winning”.

On the football podcast Pitchside, the former Ibrox player offered his opinion on the supporter situation during the derby match.

Windass, who lived in Glasgow for two years, asserted that Rangers initially reduced their allocations since Celtic continued to win.

The attacker, who is currently with Sheffield Wednesday, appeared in 11 games for Rangers against Celtic but was never victorious. He drew twice and lost nine times.

Furthermore, Windass believes that record contributed to the uncomfortable situation for fans in recent seasons when there were lockouts for visiting fans at both Celtic Park and Ibrox.

Windass did, however, describe the rivalry as the “most intense derby in the world” despite his personal involvement with the match.

“It’s really the most intense derby in the world, but now that the away crowd has been stopped, it’s not good,” he said.

“I think they did it because Celtic kept winning genuinely, then Rangers cut the allocation and then Celtic was like we’ll cut it as well.”
