Ranger’s fear of “Risk” before their women’s match against Celtic – Sky Sports

All Celtic supporters’ tickets for Sunday, February 18’s Scottish Women’s Premier League Old Firm encounter at Ibrox have been deemed void by Rangers.

A club statement was sent by Sky Sports, who were concerned that “risk” fans may have obtained game tickets.

There were 700 Hoops supporters who were supposed to be at the game, but for security concerns they will not be able to.

Rangers needed to make better plans.

Rangers‘ resolve to put every fan’s safety first led them to decide to cancel Celtic’s ticket allocation for the SWPL game at Ibrox.

Given the unsegregated, family-friendly ambiance that is frequently present at women’s matches, Gers decided to exercise caution in order to maintain a secure environment for spectators. Police Scotland also highlighted potential security risks and the necessity for a significant police presence.

The circumstance does, however, also emphasize how important it is to plan and prepare ahead of time for important events like Old Firm games.

Although putting safety first is laudable, strong policing measures should have been expected long before.

The last-minute realization that increased security is required points to a lack of preparation, which could cause fans’ frustration and disappointment.

It is hoped that similar occurrences won’t happen again and that action will be taken regarding both the men’s matches and the long-standing Old Firm away fan dilemma.
