Vitor Pereira confirms potential Matheus Cunha blow ahead of Chelsea vs Wolves
Newcastle defeated Wolves 3-0 on Wednesday, as Alexander Isak’s skill level surpassed Vitor Pereira’s team.
Unexpectedly, Pereira chose Hwang Hee-chan over Matheus Cunha in the starting lineup following the 25-year-old’s return from his two-match suspension.
After putting on yet another impressive performance, Hwang was substituted for the Brazilian at halftime, who immediately changed the course of the game.
The 25-year-old appeared to have the best chance of helping the visitors create some magic in the last third of the game by adding more forward drive.
The boss now questions the fitness of Wolves’ 10-goal attacker, who was guaranteed to start against Chelsea on Monday.
According to Liam Keen on X, Pereira stated during Friday’s pre-game news conference that Cunha had missed training due to illness, casting doubt on his health.
The Portuguese manager is optimistic that he will train on Saturday and that he might start at Stamford Bridge if he does.
The last time the two teams played in West London, Cunha scored a hat-trick to help Wolves win a historic 4-2 victory against Chelsea in February 2024.
