According to Turkish media, Besiktas is interested in signing Paul Onuachu, a forward from Southampton, who might be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first acquisition as Black Eagles manager.
After Giovanni van Bronckhorst left in December, the Norwegian is almost certain to be named their new head coach.
Sabah today report on the latest developments regarding Besiktas interest in the Southampton attacker after they were linked with the Nigerian international in the past week.
Despite these previous links Sabah say the Black Eagles will make a ‘surprise’ move for Onuachu as they look to bring in a centre-forward in this transfer window. With Ciro Immobile reportedly unhappy in Istanbul, the Super Lig giants want to address this before the transfer deadline.
We only learned this week from the Turkish media that Serdal Adalı, the new president, has been negotiating a deal for the Southampton player, and that Besiktas is interested in signing the 30-year-old.
During his Super Lig loan stint last season, Onuachu made an impression for Trabzonspor, tallying 17 goals in 25 appearances.
He’s made 12 appearances for Southampton this season, but has rarely started games. The Saints have a deal with Onuachu through June 2026.
