After giving up eight goals to Salford City, Manchester City again made a mistake at the wrong moment, destroying
a 2-0 lead against Brentford and ending up with a draw. It’s becoming frustrating for the English champions, but
this season has been that way for them so far. The Citizens will be motivated to avoid making the same mistakes
and to take all three points home this Sunday, which will be a crucial performance given that they play PSG after
this match.
In the last game, Stefan Ortega could have done a better job of saving the equalizer. He still works between the
sticks, though. This time, Matheus Nunes should be the starting right-back instead of Rico Lewis.
Josko Gvardiol plays left back, and Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji continue to be the core of the defense.
Following the English FA Cup third round football match between Manchester City and Huddersfield Town at the
Etihad Stadium in Manchester, north west England, on January 7, 2024, Stefan Ortega, the team’s German
goalkeeper number 18, cheers supporters on the field. The game was won 5-0 by Manchester City. (Image courtesy

Midfield
While Mateo Kovacic continues in the middle of the park, Bernardo Silva might be sacrificed to make way for Ilkay
Gundogan this weekend.
Attack
Jeremy Doku will be able to play on the left wing as a result of Pep Guardiola’s efforts to keep Savinho fresh. Kevin
De Bruyne is the attacking midfielder, while Phil Foden is operating on the opposite side of the field.
Another positive development for City supporters is Erling Haaland’s long-term deal at Etihad Stadium, where he
leads the attacking group as usual.
Oscar Bobb (leg), Ruben Dias (calf), and Rodri (ACL) are all officially out, although John Stones (foot) is making
progress toward a comeback. Kyle Walker will not be playing because he is still looking for a new team off the field.
