Celtic and Lens have made bids for Aston Villa striker Louie Barry, but he is expected to stay. The Scottish champions are said to have offered £5 million, with an additional £5 million in add-ons and a buy-back clause for the 21-year-old. Lens has countered with £6 million up front and a similar amount in add-ons, but Villa insists the former Barcelona prospect will not be sold this year. Barry has been working with Villa’s first team since his return after a successful spell at Stockport County, where he scored 16 goals in 24 appearances.
Manager Unai Emery is willing to grant the former England U18 international a new contract before deciding whether to send him out on loan at the end of the window or to keep him and help Villa with their fight for European qualifying.
