West Brom press conference set for Friday after new Tony Mowbray update

As negotiations regarding a new manager continue, Chris Brunt is scheduled to attend the next West Brom press conference on Friday, according to the Express & Star.

Tony Mowbray spoke with the club multiple times last week, according to the publication, and the Albion will play Stoke City on January 18.

Prior to facing the Potters, the Baggies had planned to have Carlos Corberan’s replacement in place, but the process is now taking longer after negotiations with Raphael Wicky broke down over backroom staff.

On January 17, Brunt will address the media, but as Mowbray is still interested in rejoining The Hawthorns, negotiations over a permanent position may possibly intensify before the weekend.

West Brom is still looking for a new manager.

Given that they are getting close to going a month without a permanent manager, the Baggies would have preferred to have a new manager in place sooner.

Although Mowbray is still very much in the running, it is unlikely that the process will take that long. Still, the former Albion manager would need certain things worked out.

John Eustace, Luke Williams, and Rene Hake were also given careful thought. At 1/2, Mowbray is presently the bookmakers’ favourite with Sky Bet, followed by Steven Schumacher at 7/1.

The board is still evaluating the transfer market in the meanwhile, and many supporters are hoping that they can bring more depth and strength to The Hawthorns.

It’s a short turnaround after Saturday’s Stoke match before the travel to Middlesbrough on January 21.
