‘It’s horrible for the team…’: Michael Beale issues Sunderland star injury update ahead of Birmingham clash

Michael Beale has updated fans on Patrick Roberts’ injury situation ahead of Birmingham vs Sunderland.

The winger contributed favourably as the visitors attempted to steal a point in the 1-0 loss to Huddersfield earlier in the week.

But Roberts’ cameo came at a price, as Sunderland enters a pivotal phase of the season with a hamstring injury.

Beale’s team hasn’t played well lately; the Black Cats couldn’t duplicate their showing in Yorkshire last weekend at the Stadium of Light.

A lot of things went wrong when Beale brought attention to the team’s set-piece issue. Statistics also suggest that Sunderland has a serious problem in front of goal.

Now that Roberts is hurt, the Black Cats will have even more issues to deal with as Beale provides additional details.

This season, Roberts hasn’t had much luck with injuries. The winger had a knock early in the season that required him to miss several games.

Although rumours of Roberts’ fresh injury began to circulate earlier this week, Beale has now verified the severity of the situation.

“With Paddy he scan is today, it’s the other side of the hamstring to what he did earlier in the season, but we think it’s very similar,” Beale said to Sunderland Echo.
