Stoke City transfer latest as wing-back target ticks all the FFP boxes for Potters
Alex Timossi Andersson, a 22-year-old right wing-back, is reportedly linked to Stoke City. The one that
The player from IF Brommapojkarna, who has also played as a winger, scored four goals in 29 league games for the
Swedish squad from the previous season. Furthermore, Expressen is now saying that the Potters “want to sign him” this month.
Whether Stoke has even made an offer for Andersson, who is valued at about €500k, is yet unknown.
According to the website Transfermarkt, he is “on his way out” of Brommapojkarna, although Expressen says otherwise.
According to the website Sport Witness, the versatile Andersson joined Bayern Munich’s reserve team in 2020. After
going out on loan twice, he left the German club for Heerenveen in the Netherlands in the summer of 2022. A year
later, he returned to Sweden to join Stockholm outfit Brommapojkarna, who finished 10th in the Swedish top-flight
last season under former Aston Villa star Olof Mellberg.
Andersson certainly fits the profile of the sort of player Stoke are likely to be looking at this month as they wrestle
with player spending concerns.
Stoke boss Mark Robins made clear his transfer approach in a recent interview, saying: “You’ve got to recruit well,
develop well and then try to retain as well when you can. I always use the word incremental. It’s an incremental
change each year and trying to get better incrementally on that basis because most clubs haven’t got the money to
say we’re going to try to buy the title – and I don’t think that’s necessarily a good thing to do either.”
