Aston Villa Favorite ‘among three best in the world’ as World Cup prediction made

Emi Martinez will continue to be among the best goalkeepers in the world for the next four or five years, according to Argentina icon Sergio Goycochea.

The 31-year-old won the prize for men’s best goalkeeper at the 2022 The Best FIFA Football Awards and continues to be at the highest point in his career.

Martinez was outstanding during the World Cup and produced heroics in the shootout as Argentina lifted the trophy. He also continues to play a key part in Aston Villa’s success in the Premier League thus far.

“He is having a good performance and his team’s position in the table is heroic. If you analyse his level and the level at which he continues to maintain himself in the national team and, obviously, his personality, which has also brought him here and magnifies his figure.

“For me, yes, he is the best. Saying it can be very subjective because we are Argentines, but there is no doubt that he is among the three best in the world. For me, not only do we have a goalkeeper with a great present, but we can still project into the future despite his 31 years of age.

“2030 is far away, but without any type of problem for 2026. I think that due to experience, personality and the talent he has, we will have the position to not cause problems for the next four or five years at least.”
