Police believe two men on motorcycles carried out a gun attack on a Salford residence. Three shots were fired at an apartment in Little Hulton, causing two bullet holes in the window and one in the frame below.
Detectives are currently reviewing CCTV footage in an effort to identify the computers used by the couple. The attack is not believed to be related to any other event, and authorities are currently investigating if the gunman targeted the wrong residence by mistake.
The first-floor flat in Ellesmere Close, off Queen Street, where the shooting occurred is believed to be the residence of two friends. Nobody was wounded in the incident.
Police were called to the scene at 5.55 p.m. on Friday (December 27) after complaints of a guns discharge. The flat is near the entrance to St Edmunds RC Primary School.
Police indicated today (December 30) that the inquiry was still ongoing. There have been no arrests, and police are still searching for the motorcycles used by the attackers.
Residents have expressed their disbelief. One person, who wanted not to be identified, stated, “We were in town, and when we returned, police said there had been gunshots.” I’ve lived on this street for six years, and it’s pretty normal. I have a twelve-year-old son. When I answered the door just now, he warned me to be careful. It’s worrying.”
Detective Inspector Justin Bryant of GMP’s Salford district stated, “This incident will undoubtedly cause concern for those who live in the Little Hulton area and Salford as a whole.” We are certain that this incident was targeted, with no broader public threats. Officers will be present in the area to reassure our neighbors and listen to any concerns you may have. Your information, no matter how insignificant you believe it is, could be extremely useful to our continuing inquiry.
