BBC Sports Second approach made: Chelsea pushing again to sign Premier League star this month.

Chelsea reportedly made a second attempt for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap during the January transfer window.

According to Simon Phillips of Substack, the Blues would like to complete a deal for Delap this month if possible, and it appears like something is brewing there. It’s unclear what Chelsea will have discussed in their last communication regarding this potential transfer, but Phillips has suggested that the west London club may be increasing up efforts to arrange personal terms with the player. Delap has demonstrated remarkable promise for Ipswich this season, scoring eight goals and assisting twice in the Premier League. Delap, who is only 21 years old, is expected to have a lot more to offer Chelsea in the long run.

Liam Delap transfer: Chelsea surely need an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson

Jackson, on the other hand, has only one goal in his previous seven games and has squandered several excellent opportunities. Delap may not have proven himself at the highest level yet, but he appears to have the ability to outperform Jackson in the near future. Ipswich will undoubtedly not want to sell such a vital player in the middle of the season, but it is also difficult to prevent outstanding players from leaving if major clubs like as CFC get involved.

Chelsea may have stuttered recently, but they’ve mostly shown signs of real progress since Maresca took over, so Delap would surely want to become a part of this exciting project built around other talented young players.
