Rangers: Cyriel Dessers now undroppable for Philippe Clement despite 20% display v Ross County

Rangers have now finally caught up with fierce rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table after a lengthy pursuit.

Following their 3-1 victory over Ross County on Wednesday, February 14, they are currently tied for first place with

the same number of points and goal differential between the two teams.

The Bhoys’ only advantage above the Staggies is their goal differential, but following what transpired against them,

that really shouldn’t be the case.

Although the hosts had 23 shots on goal throughout the course of the ninety minutes, Philippe Clement will be

pleased with the three points but not with their finishing [BBC Sport, 14 February].

With seven of those total shots on target, Cyriel Dessers stands out as a man who may be specifically blamed for these

shortcomings [Sofascore].

His two goals from those ten shots overall gave him a mere 20% success percentage. He also had two shots off target

and one shot blocked.

In an interesting night under the lights, the summer signing hit the woodwork once and wasted four significant

opportunities, according to Sofascore. Dessers also won just two of his seven duels.

Maybe he and Clement, though, would acknowledge the obvious—that the home team won the game thanks to the

former’s double.

At Ibrox, Dessers separated the two teams after Simon Murray had levelled for the visitors before John Souttar

scored a late third goal for the Gers.

And it ought to be more than sufficient for Clement to give the striker another start when Rangers visit St Johnstone

on Sunday, February 18. Fabio Silva, who signed in January, is probably going to be benched once again.
