Blackburn have made a £1.75 million bid to sign a new face for John Eustace this month, who has previously proved he understands where the back of the net is when facing Rovers.
Blackburn stumbles in the Championship.
Promotion to the FA Cup fourth round at the expense of fellow Championship play-off candidates Middlesbrough ended Blackburn’s dreadful run of form, which had seen them fail to win in nearly a month and take only two points from their last five games in England’s second division.
It has dashed Rovers’ early ambitions of making the play-offs, with the club currently a point behind sixth-placed West Brom and a further point behind Boro, despite having a game in hand on both sides as the three attempt to close the gap on the Championship’s four runaway leaders.
Eustace said earlier this month that his side needs “help” to keep their play-off chances alive: “We are doing the right things, but we have to stay positive, and we believe we can be a top team in this league.” But we need aid. Hopefully, we can keep that in the direction of where we want to go.”
To that purpose, the club was in talks to sign Liam Kitching from Coventry, but the deal appears to have fallen through after the defender scored to help Coventry advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup over the weekend.
Rovers also intended to recruit Ben Brereton Diaz, but any potential transfer is complicated by the Chile international’s preference for Sheffield United than any other club. As a result, the Lancashire outfit has been obliged to hunt elsewhere for reinforcements, and they have found an option.
Blackburn makes an offer for another Coventry ace. According to Sky Sports, Blackburn have launched a £1.75 million bid to capture Coventry City attacker Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The versatile forward joined Coventry from West Brom in the summer transfer window, but he has battled to find playing time at the CBS Arena. He has made only eight Championship starts, including one since Frank Lampard’s arrival.

Centre-Forward | 112 |

Though he has only scored once this season, Rovers fans are well aware of his goal-scoring ability, since Thomas-Asante has scored three times against them in his last two games, including his only goal of the season in a 3-0 victory against the Lancashire side in October.
With attacking trio Andreas Weimann, Yuki Ohashi, and Makhtar Gueye combining for only 15 goals this season, there is certainly room for Eustace’s side to score more goals, as their 28 goals scored are the fewest of any team in the top half of the Championship and fewer than several teams in the bottom half.
Could Thomas-Asante be the man to propel them into the playoffs as they attempt to return to the top flight?
