Last night, Leicester City triggered the option to recall Tom Cannon from his successful loan at Stoke City.
Stoke City’s 22-year-old striker has 11 goals this season, attracting interest from Championship clubs such as Sheffield United and Sunderland.
He had been content to stay at the bet365 Stadium, but Leicester had an option to recall him in January that expired at midnight, and they called shortly before the clock struck 12.Stoke City published a statement saying: “Tom has our gratitude for his dedication to the Stoke City cause throughout his loan time with the club. We wish him luck in the future.”
New Stoke manager Mark Robins has recalled Nathan Lowe from his loan spell at Walsall. He joins Emre Tezgel, Niall Ennis, and Sam Gallagher in the strike department. However, Gallagher (hamstring) is currently in the treatment room, and Ennis and Tezgel have barely featured this season.
The Potters were already looking for a new forward, and their hunt will intensify as the transfer deadline approaches at the end of the month.
