Under the Paradise lights, Scott Brown faced some of the top players in the world in European competition during his 14-year tenure at Celtic.
During the former club captain’s great run in Glasgow’s east end, Lionel Messi paid Brown a few visits, although the Argentinean was never the best player Brown faced.
That distinction goes to Andres Iniesta, who Brown feels was consistently a superior player during the ninety minutes whenever Celtic faced Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Brown acknowledged in an interview with the Daily Record Hotline Live how challenging it was to play against Iniesta when the Spaniard was surrounded by players like Xavi and Sergio Busquets.
He stated: “I had a lot of trouble comprehending what Iniesta was doing.
“Don’t get me wrong, Messi had special moments that nobody else could recreate, but Iniesta as in, making sure the game ticked over, him, Busquets and Xavi were in a different world.”
