Explosive running back Caden Knighten goes in-depth on his pledge to Baylor

Early in the cycle, Dave Aranda and his staff had the No. 13 recruiting class in 247Sports.

On Tuesday, Caden Knighten, a running back from Wynnewood (Oklahoma) High School, declared his commitment to Baylor. Vanderbilt, Colorado, Michigan State, and USC were among the other offers.

The 6-foot-190-pound Knighten is ranked as the No. 23 running back in the country and a four-star prospect by 247Sports Composite.Early in the cycle, he is ranked No. 13 in the Baylor class and is considered one of its jewels.

When asked what attracted him to Baylor, Knighten replied, “Just the people, the coaches.”The main recruiter was Khenon Hall.

“The manner that Coach Hall was my first offer when he was at SMU as a freshman. I now have more faith in the program and in him. We’ve been communicating for a while, and it feels good to be here.

“It seemed like a wonderful place to call home and a good look.”

As a sophomore, Knighten ran for 2,278 yards and 35 touchdowns with an average of almost 10 yards per carry and a 10.6 100-meter sprint mark. He will provide Dave Aranda and his staff access to one of the more exciting players in the country.

Regarding what else jumped out, Knighten remarked, “their academics.” That’s what my family and I truly search for in a college. Being a student-athlete is important, as is earning a degree while doing all of that. A degree from Baylor University is highly regarded. I’m proud of that.

It’s a Christian school as well. I have a strong sense of faith in God and everything. That seems like it would be a perfect fit for me.

On the weekend of May 9, Knighten will be in Baylor, where he is excited to see Dave Aranda.

“His manner appeals to me,” Knighten remarked. “The guy listens intently and speaks in a way that makes you trust him.” I believe he is an excellent coach. Coach Hall told me a lot about him and showed him a lot of respect. He is a wonderful man and an inspiration to me.

Knighten works out with C4SportOklahoma owner Sean Cooper. He dissects what Baylor is receiving.

Cooper called attention to “his explosiveness.” His canine nature and swiftness. He is unquestionably a dog. His fortitude. This speaks something about his character, considering he commutes an hour to work out here. His explosiveness, 200 pounds, 10.6 seconds of running, and heart put him in the elite bracket.
