Following Ayumu Yokoyama’s performance as the star of Birmingham City’s Vertu Trophy victory against Swindon, Chris Davies praised the Japanese winger as a “one-v-one specialist.”
With his fourth goal of the season and second in back-to-back games, Yokoyama opened the scoring in Wiltshire as Blues won 2-1 to move on to the Vertu Trophy quarterfinals.Now, the Blues are only two games away from visiting Wembley.
Following his team’s 24th victory of the season, Blues manager Davies said, “I was happy with us overall.” Although we didn’t create many opportunities, I thought we looked good.

Yokoyama opened the scoring in Wiltshire as the Blues triumphed 2-1 to go to the Vertu Trophy quarterfinals. It was his fourth goal of the season and his second in consecutive games.The Blues are now just two games away from making the trip to Wembley.
Blues manager Davies stated after his team’s 24th victory of the season, “I was happy with us overall.” I felt we looked excellent, even though we didn’t create many opportunities.
“He took his goal really well,” Davies continued. When he was slid in, he had some time to consider it, but his approach seemed quite normal.
“He has performed well. He is still learning and adapting, and he finds it more difficult at times to play these games since they are so straightforward and rough.
“You’ll be relieved to see him go if you play right back for Swindon. Every time he had the ball, it seemed like he was genuinely pursuing him. We truly need to make use of him and expand on his one-on-one expertise.
