RITA’s Truck Transportation taught to 30 Eagle Scouts at 2025 Merit Badge College
At Saturday’s Merit Badge College, thirty prospective Eagle Scouts enrolled in the “Truck Transportation” course
instructed by Chris Maxwell of RITA.
The full-day event, hosted by Scouts BSA at Rhode Island College, gives Scouts the chance to network with highly
skilled professionals in order to learn about and encourage the development of future career routes and lifelong
interests.
On Saturday, Maxwell instructed two three-hour classes on “Truck Transportation,” which included topics including
the history of trucking, different kinds of technology and equipment, safety, infrastructure funding, and regulatory
enforcement.Scouts could take courses including “Archaeology,” “Digital Technology,” “Law,” and “Oceanography”
in addition to Truck Transportation, which is one of the 30 courses offered by the Merit Badge College.
Scouting In order to become an Eagle Scout, Scouts must earn merit badges as they complete requirements.By
introducing them to areas that may not be accessible through regular troop meetings, the Merit Badge College allows
Scouts to earn badges more quickly.
“This important event enables us to educate and encourage some to pursue a career in trucking, as the industry aims
to draw young men and women into its ranks,” Maxwell said.”At the very least, it provides our young people with
firsthand knowledge of the facts, realities, and importance of the trucking industry,” he continued.
