Due to opposition from Championship rivals, Sheffield United is expected to increase their interest in Leicester City forward Tom Cannon this week.
Fraser Fletcher, a Teamtalk reporter, claims that the Blades are prepared to intensify their chase of the forward in the days ahead.
Alan Nixon has also stated that the Yorkshire team is prepared to spend up to £7 million for his services and hopes to finalize an agreement as early as Tuesday. Sunderland is also keeping an eye on the situation.
Cannon has been a mainstay of Stoke City’s squad this season and is now on loan there.
After making 22 appearances in the second level this season, the 22-year-old has helped the Potters with nine goals and one assist.

Tom Cannon transfer latest
This January, there are as many as five parties keeping an eye on Cannon’s future.
Leading the way is Sheffield United, who may potentially reach a deal with Leicester as early as Tuesday, according to reports.
In light of the team’s pursuit of promotion to the Premier League, Chris Wilder is eager to expand his attacking options prior to the deadline of February 3.
Luton Town and Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly also interested in acquiring Cannon, with Sunderland offering competition, according to The Sun.
As part of their original deal in the summer, Leicester had the right to recall the youngster and send him back out on loan elsewhere, so this would be a blow to Stoke.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, the manager of the Foxes, stated on Leicestershire Live that he might stay with the Potters for the rest of the season.
It’s unknown if the Yorkshire team would contemplate adding both to Wilder’s squad this January, but Sky Sports has also stated that Sheffield United is in the running for Southampton forward Ben Brereton Diaz.
Sheffield United recent form
Following a 1-0 loss to Cardiff City in the FA Cup’s third round last weekend, Sheffield United was eliminated from the competition.
The Blades have only won one of their last four Championship games, indicating a slump in their league play.
After 26 games, Wilder’s team is now in third place in the standings, one point behind leaders Leeds United.
Sheffield United’s next game is against Norwich City at home on January 18.
Sheffield United needs to increase their firepower.
Cannon might provide Sheffield United with the extra offensive weapon they’re seeking.
He has done well for Stoke this season, and the team would undoubtedly suffer greatly from his early departure.
He has experience at that level from his time at Leicester last season, so the chance to join a team that is vying for promotion would also be a step up for him.
Since he has a track record of scoring goals at this level, it is not surprising that so many teams are vying for his services.
