The Dallas Cowboys need a new coach after parting ways with Mike McCarthy on Monday. And they might have their eyes on a high-profile college coach.
Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports was informed by sources that Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, had spoken with Deion Sanders of Colorado.
During his time with the Cowboys, Sanders helped the team win two Super Bowls in the 1990s. After leading the Buffaloes to a 9-4 record and making them a Bowl team, he recently concluded his second season as Colorado’s coach. It’s uncertain if Sanders would want to go straight from college to the NFL, and it’s questionable if Jones would want to make an impression on him. He has previously said that he would like to coach a squad that includes both of his kids, Shilo and Shedeur, who are scheduled to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. It will be fascinating to follow the Cowboys’ coaching search. There are several strong candidates available, but many have already interviewed with potential teams over the last few weeks.
