Juric reveals reason he plays Dibling in ‘better’ position
SAINTS boss Ivan Juric revealed the reason why he deployed Tyler Dibling as a striker against Swansea City, admitting: “Sometimes it’s better.”
The 18 year old starlet netted twice against the Championship challengers to help fire Saints through to the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.
It was Dibling’s first professional brace and saw him double his goal tally for the season, having found the target twice in the Premier League this campaign.
Dibling has already been used as a right-winger, a central midfielder and a false nine by Juric and Russell Martin during his debut senior season.
He now paired Kamaldeen Sulemama in attack against the Swans and Juric explained: “I think that he’s really young and I think he cannot run too much.
“Sometimes it is better that he’s playing forward and waiting for the right moment like he did against Swansea, and to score the goal.
“I noticed that when he’s in the middle he had to defend a lot and then lose t energy. I think for him now at this moment it’s the best position.”
Juric added: “He’s a really young guy and here he scored two goals. I’m expecting even more of him because I think he can do it even better than this.”
Dibling is set to keep his place in Juric’s side for Thursday’s visit to Manchester United, who hold an interest in signing the England youth international.
The academy graduate caught the eye of former United boss Erik ten Hag on his first start for Saints in a league match against the Red Devils in September.
