Burnley have launched a transfer bid for a highly regarded attacker before their game against Sunderland.
Burnley have launched a bid for a highly regarded forward ahead of their Championship match against Sunderland at Turf Moore on Friday evening.
The Black Cats have already signed Enzo Le Fèe during the January transfer window, and they are looking for more forwards as the market continues. Sunderland has already been connected with Leicester City’s Stoke City loanee Tom Cannon and Southampton forward Ben Brereton Diaz.
However, before of the Championship meeting on Friday, Burnley have reportedly launched a “official bid” to recruit Plymouth Argyle attacker Morgan Whittaker, as Scott Parker seeks to improve the Clarets’ promotion campaign.
According to our sister title, the Burnley Express, Parker’s team expressed interest in Whittaker during the summer when they were looking to strengthen their forward line but were unable to complete a deal. However, Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano are now claiming that Parker’s team has revived its interest.
Before being sacked earlier this season, former Argyle manager Wayne Rooney clearly intimated that the player was not for sale. He stated, “We received a bid that is completely different from anything we would accept. It was pretty funny.
“I think any bids we receive now, even if they get to the money which we would actually look at, is going to be very difficult because it leaves you no time to replace Morgan Whittaker because he’s such a top player.”
Sunderland and Burnley will meet off at Turf Moor in the Championship on Friday.
