BBC Scotland pundit highlights key “difference” between Rangers & Celtic right now.

Ryan Stevenson, an ex-Hearts midfielder, claims that the emotion among fans is the main “difference” between Rangers and Celtic this season.

The Scottish footballer turned BBC Scotland pundit spoke after Rangers’ Scottish Cup triumph over Ayr United over the weekend.

Ryan Stevenson believes there is a significant difference in how non-Old Firm supporters feel about Rangers and Celtic right now.

Rangers are on an upswing under Philippe Clement and have a lot of momentum, with the club’s supporters right behind the team as things stand.

Conversely – and no matter how much Brendan Rodgers tries to bat it away – there is a sentiment of unhappiness and nervousness in the Celtic support.

Ryan Stevenson on Rangers v Celtic “difference”

Ryan Stevenson, speaking on the BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast, stated that there is currently a significant “difference” between the teams.

While the former Jambos midfielder did not make any wild predictions, Stevenson believes it is shifting things in Rangers’ way.

The former Tynecastle star believes it is something that will not alter.

“I don’t think they will (turn on the team),” Ryan Stevenson stated. “We discussed it during the game, just the difference it makes because it echoes over the pitch.

“I’ve been in situations where the Old Firm is going through a terrible period, and you know when you’re sitting in that away

changing room, ‘listen, let’s get it in half an hour. If it’s extremely terrible, 20 minutes and you’ll feel it turn.

“We discussed previously how challenging these games may be. Rangers play Ayr United, and everyone shows up expecting an easy stroll. They never faltered.

“The atmosphere was electric right from the start, and I can only imagine what it will be like on Wednesday night (v Ross County).” This place will lose its roof.

“That, in my opinion, is the difference between Rangers and Celtic right now. One is not a cheerful environment, whereas the other is currently gaining popularity among admirers.

“When there is a connection between the fans and the players, and the supporters can see that the players are working, all the fans want is for someone to go above and beyond for that badge.

“I think that’s exactly what the manager is demanding of the players, not just on the pitch, on the training pitch as well and I think it just echoes in.”

Ibrox roar returns under Philippe Clement

Rangers manager Philippe Clement discussed the atmosphere in the Ibrox stands after their victory over Ayr United.

The Belgian manager praised the “amazing” dedication of the Ibrox supporters, stating that the record-breaking attendance of

almost 40,000 against the Championship side would not be replicated elsewhere.

The “synergy” among Rangers, management, and players is crucial for success this season.

There is a true belief in the team right now, and with nerves jangling at Celtic, we’ll see if it lasts until the end of the season.
