Ben Brereton Diaz makes preference clear after clubs line up to sign him

Southampton striker Ben Brereton Diaz wants to join Sheffield United in January despite numerous teams lined up to recruit him.

Last week, talkSPORT claimed that Sheffield United had negotiated a verbal loan with Southampton for Ben Brereton Diaz. The news wasn’t shocking considering the sort of season Diaz has had thus far.

Since joining Southampton in the pre-season, Diaz has yet to record his first competitive goal as a Saint. Furthermore, the 25-year-old’s last appearance for the club occurred over two months ago.

Honestly, Diaz has been a terrible addition for Southampton. To the extent where even his old Sheffield United colleague Cameron Archer is ahead of him in the pecking order.

So when Sheffield United came knocking for him again, a January escape seemed the best answer. Keeping in mind, that he was in great form for them in the Premier League last year.

But a deal to Sheffield United is becoming tricky now.

Ben Brereton Diaz makes choice obvious after teams queue up to sign him

Earlier today, Sky Sports revealed in their live blog that Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers are also eager to acquire Diaz on loan. Similar to Sheffield United, Blackburn is another team where Diaz has previously played.

Thus, the Chilean striker has to make a good choice in January.

Currently, it appears like Diaz is already set on his desire for the next step. According to a story from the Daily Mail, Diaz wants to join Sheffield United.

In their own words, the Daily Mail mentioned: “He wants familiarity and stability so he knows Sheffield United can provide that should he step away from the South Coast.”

Ben Brereton Diaz’s strong persistence might see Sheffield United make rapid headway in sealing the loan deal.

Recently, transfer interest has also been developing in Kamaldeen Sulemana. If these two moves go through, Southampton could seek to acquire a new striker in January.
