He said: “We’ve got to be really careful – because I’ve been there myself when, when Sean Dyche came in for his first game.”
He added: “I believe it was against Arsenal at home. It gives you that additional motivation, extra drive. So we really have to be cautious, respect them and, sure, prepare the game. But I’m sure our gaffer will have a strategy – and we’ll follow it.”
Reflecting on his time at Everton, Onana highlighted his delight ahead of the first encounter between the two teams since Everton won their Premier League status with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.
He said: “Goodison Park is unique, you know, because it’s the venue that provided me the chance to demonstrate my skills in the Premier League. I was glad for the chance, but sure, looking forward to it.
“I enjoy playing at Goodison, I hope this time it will be better for us.”
“I admire the fans but I don’t want them to be too joyful next week. I may enable that for this week (the week following). I think it’ll be better for us.”, He continued, reported the Mirror.
