B B C Sports: Georginio Rutter scores two for Brighton at Norwich City.
Georginio Rutter has been told he may have even more confidence following his first double in English football. However, head coach Fabian Hurzeler would like to confirm that he is not hurt. The record signing remained down after scoring his second goal in a 4-0 FA Cup victory over Norwich. He was caught late by Callum Doyle as he took his shot and remained down after the ball went into the net. However, he was able to play in the second half. Rutter had previously headed the opener from Joel Veltman’s cross.
Hurzeler, the Albion manager, stated: “You constantly need solid experience for progress. “You need goals, assists, and nice actions, and I think he had a lot of those today. “He was very present in the opponents’ box, which is important, and I believe that is a fundamental requirement if you want to score a goal. “He created some chances previously, where he was in good scoring situations, and I’m extremely glad that he maintained his intensity to get into the opponents’ box – and then he was there twice and scored, so I’m very happy for him. “Hopefully, this boosts his self-esteem and belief in his own strength. “I’m sure he will help us the rest of the season.” Hurzeler said he would assess both Rutter and Yankuba Minteh, who was involved in both his goals and later limped off.
He went on to say, “All of these things require us to wait. “I think this night and also see how it develops overnight because I think when you wake up tomorrow morning, then you can feel and listen to your body, and I’m sure we will know more.” Solly March’s
goal gave me goosebumps.
Tariq Lamptey was unable to play because of illness, however Danny Welbeck came on as a second-half substitute for Albion. Hurzeler was unable to provide an update on Joao Pedro, who had a scan after twisting his ankle in training. He said, “I don’t think it’s too horrible. I just had the game, so I had to ask how he was today.
