Arsenal told to spend £50m to sign Everton star Amadou Onana.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal will need to spend at least £50 million to recruit Everton’s Amadou Onana this summer.

The Gunners are apparently looking to acquire a new midfielder to replace Thomas Partey, who has recently struggled with fitness difficulties.

It has been believed that Douglas Luiz is Arsenal’s preferred option to strengthen their engine room, but they are looking into

other options in case they are unable to sign the South American, with Onana emerging as a significant contender.

According to Football Insider, Everton is looking for a fee of £50-60 million to sell its star player this summer. This means Arsenal will need to pay a high price to sign the 22-year-old.

If Everton fails to avoid relegation, they may be compelled to sell the midfielder at a low cost.

Onana to Arsenal

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United is presently ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Onana, making it difficult for Mikel Arteta’s team to secure a contract for the teenager.

Onana, who is 6ft 5in tall, is swift, strong, good in the air, can dribble past opposing defenders in small spaces, makes efficient defensive contributions, and works exceptionally hard while not in control.

The Belgian is a skilled player who has shown glimpses of his abilities in the Premier League recently.

However, I believe Onana lacks the essential skills with the ball at his feet to play in a possession-based system, thus he may not be an ideal fit for Arteta’s team.

As a result, the Gunners may be better off going all out to get Luiz over Onana this offseason. However, it would be interesting to watch if the North London club eventually decides to make a formal move to recruit the Everton star.

Meanwhile, Arsenal is presently third in the Premier League rankings, with 49 points from 23 games, just two points behind

league leaders Liverpool. So, the Emirates club will try to maintain its title lead by defeating West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend.
