Everton postpone new contract offer for Dominic Calvert-Lewin as Goodison news emerges.

Everton have postponed offering Dominic Calvert-Lewin a new deal until the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper reported on page 67 of its print edition on Saturday (10 February) that the Toffees will decide whether or not to offer the England international a new contract once the season ends, with his contract scheduled to expire in 18 months.

Despite failing to score in his last 17 outings, Blues manager Sean Dyche is optimistic about the 26-year-old’s future at the club.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin must earn a new contract at Everton

Everton is likely to give Calvert-Lewin a new deal at the end of the season, but it makes sense to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

If they are demoted from the Premier League, they will most likely be unable to afford his salary in the Championship.

There is still a long way to go before that happens, but the forward must earn a new contract in the coming months since his goals could be critical to the Toffees’ survival.

Although the Englishman is a superb player, he is currently lacking confidence due to a lack of goals in recent games.

But once he gets on the scoresheet again, the Blues will be hoping it’s the first of many, as they desperately need their star striker back in form at Goodison Park.
