Reading manager tells squad to ‘give a good account of ourselves’ in Burnley cup encounter. Reading manager Noel Hunt has hinted that he will field a strong team in tomorrow’s FA Cup third round clash against Burnley, urging his players to ‘give a good account of themselves’. Scott Parker’s Clarets are second in the Championship, looking for a quick return to the Premier League following last year’s relegation. Following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over local rivals Blackburn Rovers, it remains to be seen how powerful former England player Parker will be in his pursuit of promotion.

However, the Royals are sixth in League One and are aiming for the top of the league, but Hunt is eager to put his ‘best foot forward.’ “We have to take each game as it comes,” he told reporters in the lead-up. “It’s the next one in which we have to perform and strive to achieve a result. We’re at home, so it’s all about our mindsets and actions. “First and first, you should give a good account of yourself, and then the performance will take care of itself. It’s critical that we provide a decent image of ourselves, do what we do, and see what occurs.”

While missing eight first-team regulars due to injuries, Hunt stated, “It’s a different vessel than the Harborough’s and whatnot.” Burnley are a good team, and it’s important for us to get out there and keep the momentum rolling by fielding our best 11 at the moment. We have injuries, therefore many of the younger ones are involved. “We put our best foot forward. Reading advanced to the third round after defeating Fleetwood Town and Harborough Town in the first two rounds. Hunt reached the FA Cup quarter-finals in both 2010 and 2011, and won the Championship in 2012.
