West Bromwich Albion will be hopeful of maintaining a promotion push back to the Premier League at the fourth attempt.

After recently being acquired from American-based businessman Shilen Patel as part of Bilkul Football group, the Baggies were narrowly edged out of a play-off semi-final against Southampton over two legs, rendering them to another season of second tier action.

With fresh investment provided but still a desperate need to cut down financially after troubling times under previous owner Guochuan Lai, Albion as a result, have welcomed many incomings and outgoings in order to balance the books and trim down the wage bill.

During this season’s summer transfer window, the Baggies waved goodbye to 13 senior players, with plenty of high earners departing in order to make the club continue to give a competitive edge in the Championship.

With the January transfer window in full swing, there is the potential for more players to arrive and depart at The Hawthorns, with the club evaluating what the side needs in order to make a further push up the division and cement having a chance to return to the Premier League.

Here at Football League World, we list the three players West Brom could look to move on by the end of the season.

Jed Wallace

First up on the list is club captain Jed Wallace, who has failed to establish himself as a regular first-team starter due to the immense rise of youngster Tom Fellows.

Wallace has seen himself drop to more of a squad player due to his underwhelming tally of attacking returns over the last couple of seasons, with the 30-year-old recording only six goals and five assists from 45 second tier appearances last campaign.

Those kinds of numbers are unlikely to push the Baggies towards a return to the top flight, and there is sure to be a concern over how Wallace could replace Fellows if he was to sustain a serious injury or move away from the club himself.

With fellow Championship outfit, Luton Town, and one of Wallace’s former employers in Portsmouth registering an interest earlier in the summer for his services, it could be an exit West Brom will want to pursue, with this sale offering up an opportunity to bring in another player who will keep Fellows firmly on his toes on the right flank.

Reyes Cleary

Albion youngster Reyes Cleary had a lot of promise and excitement around the club after his blistering goalscoring form for the U21s side, but the frontman has been less than impressive when attempting to carry it on in the professional game.

The 20-year-old signed a one-year contract extension at the club until the summer of this year and proceeded to be loaned out to League Two side Walsall to develop some first-team experience.

However, Cleary would only feature three times for the Saddlers and has been recalled to Albion.

The Baggies now face a decision about what to do next, and concern will be felt at the club after the striker failed to establish himself in the fourth tier.

With his contract expiring, Albion will be tempted to let him choose his next challenge alone, as a free agent.

John Swift

Rounding off the list is playmaker John Swift, who, similarly to Jed Wallace, has began to frustrate the Albion faithful with inconsistent runs of form.

Signing from Reading with an impressive reputation in the Championship, Swift has failed to produce similar numbers in a blue and white shirt in recent memory, with nine goals and only one assist from 37 Championship games last season, a reminder of the need for him to step up even more if the club are to return to the promised land.

The 29-year-old also has his contract running down heading into the summer, and an upturn in performances will need to occur if he is to remain a Baggies player beyond his current three-season stay.
