Ex-Man United teammate McGinty is planning a cup shock against Rangers in their match.

Sean McGinty’s former teammates include some of the biggest names in football history.

The thirty-year-old former Manchester United player, who was coached by Sir Alex Ferguson, was a member of the Old Trafford youth levels alongside Paul Pogba.

Sam Johnstone, Jesse Lingard, and Ravel Morrison were all considered teammates by the Ayr United defender during his tenure at United, where he also won the FA Youth Cup.

However, McGinty will be looking to get the better of Tom Lawrence, who was a year younger than him in the Manchester United academy, when he travels to Ibrox to play Rangers in the Scottish Cup.

Before the game on Saturday, McGinty remarked, “It’ll be good to be against him again because I also know Tom Lawrence well from playing with him at Man Utd.”

He was a skilled player all along. He was one year older than me. That particular {Youth Final], he wasn’t in.

It will be beneficial to face him because I know him well and he has been injured for some time.

McGinty said of his formation at the Premier League’s biggest team: “I began out at Charlton and was there for three years before making the switch to Manchester United at the age of 15.

The move up there was enormous. I went there with my entire family, and I spent four years up there.

“I had some of the top players on my team. Ryan Tunnicliffe, Will Keane, Ravel Morrison, Jesse Lingaard, and Paul Pogba. There are some very well-known names and others who have achieved great success.

“Sam Johnson, the goaltender, and I are still in communication.

It was incredible. My adventure with football got off to a wonderful start, and I think I learned a lot.

“It’s my FA Youth Cup win.Their largest crowd of the season was in the Bramall Lane Final. 33,000, I believe.

“I was in that at the age of, I believe, seventeen, and it was enormous.” then performed in front of 40,000 fans at Old Trafford.

It was quite unique. Ferguson was present at the stadium when we won, and I will always cherish the pictures and the memories they brought back. Wonderful.

McGinty departed Old Trafford in 2013 to join Sheffield United, but he acknowledges that David Moyes, Ferguson’s replacement, was giving young players more chances, so he may have left a bit too quickly. However, the defender is determined to fulfill his dream of participating in the Scottish Premiership.

“They have performed admirably in the match and with fair play,” McGinty remarked, citing his roster of elite teammates.”I could have left a year early because I did so right after [Sir Alex] Ferguson departed and the new manager gave the younger players a little bit more of a chance.

“So I probably just missed the boat. Your Sam Johnston’s, Michael Keane, Pogba has had a good career and made a lot of money.

“But, look, I’ve been in the game a long time. I played a lot of games and made nearly 400 appearances.

“So I am pleased with my career so far and I am still only 30 years old.

“So I’ll still try and push on and my aim is to play in the Scottish Premiership.

“I want to try and get up there. I came to Scotland six years ago and my aim was to get there.”

McGinty and his current squadmates will be led to Ibrox by Scott Brown – who has experience winning against Rangers as Celtic captain.

The goalie, nevertheless, maintains that Brown hasn’t discussed his experiences against Rangers and has instead been concentrating on a strategy to shock the odds in the Scottish Cup.

When asked about Brown’s record at Ibrox or his six Scottish Cup victories, McGinty remarked, “He’s never brought it up.””It’s clear that he performed incredibly well in the competition, and he and Whitts had excellent experience.

“He’ll give us confidence and a solid gameplan to try and get at them, test them, and make it a really good game. There aren’t too many better guys to be leading us into this game.

It’s excellent. An amazing event, and the guys are giddy with excitement.”
