“I’d love it” – Sheffield Wednesday backed to secure agreement for Ipswich Town player
The Owls have reportedly put Clarke on their list of considerations as Danny Rohl looks to expand his defensive options, according to a report from the Star. The report also notes that Rohl had indicated a lack of communication between himself and his chairman, Dejphon Chansiri, which has put the club in a difficult position throughout their transfer window. Although the transfer process is now up in the air behind the scenes, it is believed that they intend to sign the defender from Ipswich Town. Given that Clarke has made seven Premier League appearances for the Tractor Boys this season, the team may consider loaning him away in order to maximize his potential. He would bring a respectable amount of experience to Hillsborough, having previously been a consistent starter in the Championship.
A Sheffield Wednesday supporter responds to the news about Harry Clarke
According to FLW’s Owls fan analyst Patrick McKenna, who was obviously excited about the possibility of signing the defender, he had the ideal profile they were looking for right now. “In regards to Harry Clarke, he would certainly be the right callibre and profile of player we would be looking to get in in the centre-back position.” “He has primarily played a lot of football at right-back during his career, but modern football players can play across different positions in the defensive line, and I could easily see him slotting in on the right-hand side where Yan Valery has played without any issues this season.” “He’s a wonderful age as well, but he has a lot of experience for his age. He plays for a successful squad and has made a good amount of appearances at the championship level.
“He has made seven appearances in the Premier League so far this season, which is simply incredible. We desperately need to fill the position of center-back as soon as possible. “It’s really a bit of a dumb argument for folks to believe he’s not the appropriate profile. He has been able to adopt that changed, contemporary style of play and is also skilled at playing out of defense. Danny Rohl, who prefers his center-backs to be able to play out from the back, would undoubtedly be pleased.
He would generally be better than players like Iorfa, Famewo, and Ihiekwe. Di’Shon Bernard would most likely be on par with him.”It would be a wise move if that transaction went through, and it would undoubtedly strengthen our defense even if it were only for the remainder of the season. He wouldn’t be as likely to switch off and make defensive mistakes as some of our other defenders have been this season, in my opinion. “Definitely the right profile and I’d love it if we get him on loan this season.”
Harry Clarke would join a Sheffield Wednesday team with aspirations.
Danny Rohl has done an amazing job of turning things around and given the Sheffield Wednesday supporters hope of a strong, top-half finish after the team flirted with relegation during the season. With their performance from the previous season, the Owls are only three points outside of the playoffs and now sit in 10th place in the championship table. They have clearly have defensive problems because they have given up more goals than any other team in the top half of the table (40), but they have made up for it with goals, scoring 38 in 26 games. Danny Rohl appears committed to winning with this Sheffield Wednesday team, despite the alleged lack of communication behind the scenes. He will be aiming to bolster his team even more this month.
