Market stabbing: Terrified resident slams London ‘war zone’ after fatal stabbing

EXCLUSIVE: Following the incident, police officers discovered three injured people at the market, one of them died from their injuries.

At least three individuals were stabbed, one fatally, in front of shoppers at a crowded London market this morning.

One concerned local resident has stated that the situation in the region is now so serious that he is frightened for the safety of his young daughter.

Emergency personnel rushed to Walworth’s popular market after reports of multiple stabbings.

The force issued a statement saying, “An investigation has been launched following the fatal stabbing of a man in Walworth.” “Police were called at around 10:40hrs on Sunday, 10 November, to reports of a number of people stabbed in East Street, SE17.”

The representative went on to say that authorities discovered three persons injured when they arrived. The Met Police reported that one man died at the site.

The official added: “Two other people, a male and a woman, were sent to the hospital for treatment. We are awaiting an assessment of their condition.”

According to the spokeswoman, an arrest was made once officers and ambulance colleagues arrived at the scene. A man, thought to be in his 60s, was apprehended and put into police custody.” Officers are not looking for anyone else associated with the attack. However, they stated that the inquiry is still in its early stages.

Commander Peter Stevens commented on the event, saying, “Tragically, a man died this morning, and we are working hard to determine what happened and provide support to his family. My thoughts and sympathies are with them, as well as the others who have been harmed.

“The incident isn’t being investigated as terrorism. Investigations are still underway, conducted by specialised Specialist Crime detectives. “I’d like to thank everyone who has already spoken with police about what they witnessed.

The local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, told Express.co.uk: “I have a three-month-old baby – this makes me want to leave London; it’s terrible to think about raising her here. “We are afraid to leave the flat to take our baby outside. It resembles a war zone. It’s completely lawless out there. They need to get a grasp on the complete disarray.”

Another father expressed concern for his children’s safety after witnessing the aftermath of a stabbing that killed one person and left two in hospital in south London.

Siraj, 46, who lives in Walworth and did not want to reveal her surname, was walking through East Street Market when he noticed police cars and ambulances passing by.

He followed them and discovered two injured people laying on the ground in the market. He continued, “It was terrifying. I don’t feel safe sending my kids to school now.”
