Rex Ryan, the former head coach of the New York Jets, reportedly visited with the team to discuss hiring him as defensive coordinator. Since 2016, when he was the Buffalo Bills’ head coach, Ryan has not been in the National Football League.

Ryan appears to be attempting to return to the NFL while entering a highly competitive field of seasoned coaches. Ron Rivera and Mike Zimmer, who conducted employment interviews, are included in this. Ryan, though, has a wealth of NFL experience as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator. He went on to lead the Jets for six seasons and the Bills for two as their head coach.

As Mike McCarthy, the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, approaches the last year of his contract, the pressure is more than it has ever been. There may be some conjecture because Dallas is taking its time to select the best applicant for the DC position. Some people think that the person who takes over as defensive coordinator will eventually lead Dallas as head coach the following season. Ron Rivera

For the DC opening, Rivera is another applicant who just met with the Cowboys. The Cowboys will probably have to choose between Rivera and Zimmer. Given that, if hired, Rivera would have to deal with the Commanders twice a year, it’s interesting to watch. The fact that Rivera has played in the NFL continuously up until this point makes him a more fascinating option.

Mike Vrabel

Though he expressed interest, it now appears doubtful that Vrabel will convince the Cowboys to hire him in Washington. If neither Rivera nor Zimmer catch the Cowboys‘ attention, they can still consider Vrabel as an option. Dallas and Vrabel haven’t spoken, which is the issue, but anything can happen in a week. If Vrabel were to become the DC, the heat would rise and McCarthy’s employment would come under additional scrutiny the next year.
