Swansea City : Joe Low latest & Harry Darling : Behind the news
We’ve looked into Abdulmalik Al-Jaber, the Saudi U23 central midfielder who plays in Bosnia, and have to say that it all appears to be a bit of a minefield. It’s possible that we’re reading it wrong, but we’ll dig deeper into that over the weekend.
We’ve been told that Luke Cundle is on a list of prospective loans, but there has been no communication regarding his services as of today, which will satisfy some Swans. If Swansea City, particularly Luke Williams, are to be trusted, does he truly suit the bill better than what we have in place? Especially after two somewhat meaningless seasons on loan at Stoke and Plymouth.
Let us take a moment to reflect on Harry Darling. On New Year’s Day, the majority of Swansea fans were excited to hear about Harry Darling signing a new deal. That was common information, but we all know what happened after that, and some will say it was the reason Harry didn’t sign. Who can say? But it all felt a little coincidental. We all know his agent is looking for bigger and better deals for Harry, and the Swans are correct in predicting that it could take until the summer.
We must remember that Coleman can increase the contract offer at any time; we do not need a timeframe to do so. The question is, will the Chairman talk to Darling between now and the summer? He’s not stupid; of course he will be. Even with the unknowns from his agent, the Swans continue to have the cards. The only thing that will change Coleman’s mind is if Darling expresses his desire to move on regardless. And unless someone knows otherwise, that is not what is coming out of the club.
Joe Low, Wycombe’s centre defender, is looking more promising after a second bid was made. As the Swans seek for a resolution to the lengthy process of acquiring his services, Wycombe Wanderers just do not want to sell him. However, each player has a price, so the Chairboys are holding out. Reviewing our facts on the problem, we must determine who is making these decisions at Wycombe Wanderers. Mikheil Lomtadze, a wealthy Georgian/Kazakhstan billionaire, owns the large majority of the club. He’s on the Forbes’ list of billionaires. That’s no small feat. Dan Rice is acting as Chairman and has the position of Chief Football Officer; he is the person Coleman has been speaking with. He filled a few roles at Wycombe and serves as a liaison with Mikheil Lomtadze. Mikheil has led the team to a good season after taking over as main owner. They are currently leading League One, ahead of Wrexham, and Joe Low, along with a few other admired players, are vital to their stability. Matt Bloomfield, who is currently the head coach, wants to keep Joe Low. Matt has an almost forty-eight percent win percentage at the Chairboys, losing only thirty-two games in 107. That’s a remarkable statistic. There has been.
Plymouth and Preston are rumored to have made a bid for Low, but it was immediately rejected, and that the bid was ‘hand delivered’ after contact. Wycombe, on the other hand, does not want to sell, and it will take some clever business to get this done.
It’s FA Cup weekend, and we’ll have two of our members in what appears to be a very healthy away crowd at Southampton. When you consider the kick-off time of 4.30pm on a Sunday, it’s an awkward hour, especially since it’s being broadcast live on the BBC. That will be more than Cardiff’s ninety-three at Sheffield United yesterday night. Hundreds upon hundreds more.
More on the Swans’ FA Cup match later.
