West Brom manager latest as Chris Brunt provides an update on what’s happening
After what he called a “big week” in the hunt for Carlos Corberan’s replacement, Chris Brunt says the idea is for him to remain West Brom’s interim manager unless instructed otherwise. Since the Spaniard left on Christmas Eve, Brunt has been in charge of first team matters. They have drawn away to Sheffield United and Swansea, though the latter scored a devastating late equalizer, defeated Preston at home, and lost at Derby during that time. He responded, “I’d imagine this week has been a big week for them with no games so obviously there has been a few days to hold meetings or Zooms or whatever way they do it,” when asked about the latest developments in the search for a new manager. I am unsure of the entire procedure.
“They’ve managed to take a few weeks. They haven’t had to make a decision right away, which has likely benefited them. They have demonstrated the ability to take their time and complete tasks correctly, which I have no doubt they will. I’ll stay here until I’m told otherwise, but judging from the media, I think there could be a chance. If this weekend’s match against Bournemouth is his final one, he thought, “It’s been different.” obviously quite different from what I’ve been doing for a living. Although it’s much more intense, I have had some experience coaching the 21s.
A lot of things are happening. Development football, or under-21 football, aims to develop players. The actual reality of attempting to win games is back in play. You’re hoping for some kind of outcome when the guys (first team) cross the finish line on a Saturday. As a player, you can influence it. You can say things before the game and on the touch line, but you have to trust individuals to execute their jobs when they’re out there.
“The guys have been fantastic, to be fair to them. They have also been kind to me. I don’t know much about any of this. Some of them I still know from playing with them. You may have a wild time with them since you naturally have their respect. That has likely also been helpful, in my opinion. It might be a challenging moment for players.I believe we have made it as pleasurable as possible. We had a few good outcomes, so I believe everything has gone okay thus far. It’s probably worked very well for everyone, in my opinion. Hopefully, we’ve created a solid foundation for the new man to enter. It is what it is. We have done our best to deal with it, and I believe the boys have valued that.
