Phil Jagielka acknowledges that the fact that Everton must now depend on other outcomes to stay in the Premier League is a “problem.”

The Toffees are in the bottom three after being deducted 10 points earlier in the season—a decision they are attempting to reverse.

Burnley and Sheffield United, who are in last place, are almost relegated, while Luton Town is one point above and has a game left.

According to the Liverpool Echo [8 February], Sky Sports pundit Jagielka commented, “You’d be a brave man to call who’s going to go down with them.”

“I have serious concerns about Everton this season. Naturally, I felt less anxious prior to the deduction of points.

“But after that, there are undoubtedly rumours of another one.” You now examine all games, not just those that Everton has scheduled.

“There’s an issue when you find yourself having to look up who other teams are playing and how they’re doing.

“It can indicate one of two things: either you’re searching in an attempt to win something and are hoping your opponents have given up ground, or things are going south on the other hand.”

Everton have known for a while now that they are in a relegation scrap that will almost certainly go down to the wire.

Naturally, unless their points appeal decision is successful—a ruling from last week’s hearing is expected any day now—that is.

That being said, they won’t be able to breathe easily even if they manage to get six points back on the board. An impending second PSR sentence is another possibility.

To Luton Town‘s credit, their recent form has surprised everyone by forcing Everton into the bottom three.

The Toffees’ only option is to keep scoring goals through their on-field exploits, and their stalemate with Tottenham last week was a successful outcome.

However, overall, the results have been subpar for some time now. Therefore, going to Manchester City this weekend is not recommended.

However, there are still a few games that can be won, so maybe that will provide us an opportunity to gain some momentum.

This season, Sean Dyche has already pulled together a winning run once, and there is no reason why it cannot happen again.
