B B C Sports” Chris Wilder issues exciting Sheffield United transfer update.

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has conceded that the Blades are making strong progress in the transfer market this January, as the club strives for an immediate return to the Premier League.

TalkSport football correspondent Alex Crook disclosed via X on Sunday afternoon that Premier League Southampton and the Blades had informally agreed on a loan deal for Ben Brereton Diaz to return to Bramall Lane this month. Meanwhile, Football Insider reported on Tuesday that Wilder’s team were in advanced talks with Leicester City about signing midfielder Hamza Choudhury. The Blades fans will also be hoping to see a replacement for standout defender Harry Souttar, who was forced to return to home club Leicester due to a season-ending injury on loan.

The 57-year-old told the Sheffield Star: “There has been good development. “We’re not too far off. “We’d like to think we’ll have bodies in for the Norwich game and before, because it’s not like showing up at 10 a.m. for an 11 a.m. kick-off and signing the forms! “There may be a medical exam and, ideally, some preparation for the game for the boys coming in. “Of course, we want them as soon as possible, preferably during the week running up to the Norwich game. “There’s a lot of things have to happen in terms of getting these boys over the line.”

When asked if any potential transactions had reached the medical stage, Wilder replied, “Not really, but continued negotiations and progression are important. “Every player we’ve identified wants to come here, which is fantastic, and we’re their top choice. “We have lists if we don’t get them over the finish line. “We’ve made contact with those players; the difficult part is negotiating from club to club, with agents also involved. “Let’s hope our hard effort pays off in the week building up to the Norwich game, and especially when the teamsheets are announced. “Ben (Brereton Diaz) was an apparent one, not playing for the (Southampton) club despite being here last season.

“I have a connection with Hamza (Choudhury) from Watford and other players as well.

“Position specific is what we’re going on.

“A replacement for Harry Souttar, someone on the top line and maybe some physicality and legs in the middle of the park.”

Blades supporters could soon be pleased with takeover impact

COH Sports, a US-based business group, completed their ownership of the Blades in late December, and the fans at Bramall Lane will be hoping that their new owners have a beneficial impact on the current transfer window. According to the most recent update from boss Wilder, Blades fans will soon be delighted by the efforts of American businessmen Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, who lead the COH Sports organisation. Brereton Diaz and Choudhury are both high-quality Championship players who will surely help the South Yorkshire club’s automatic promotion chances despite stiff competition from Leeds United, Burnley, and Sunderland. Furthermore, if United can locate a good Souttar replacement, supporters may even fancy their side’s chances of lifting the Championship title just one year on from suffering relegation from the Premier League.
