Defender makes first ever start as Chris Brunt names 10 changes – West Brom predicted XI vs Bournemouth

West Brom’s 2024/25 FA Cup campaign begins on Saturday afternoon with a trip to Premier League side Bournemouth.

The Baggies face a side from the division they want to be promoted to; it should be a strong test for everyone involved, but substantial rotation is expected following the recent 1-1 draw away to Swansea City. While a run in the FA Cup would be delightful, the Championship remains the goal, with a key game against Stoke City coming up next weekend.

Chris Brunt and Damia Abella remain in joint interim command since Albion have yet to find a replacement for Carlos Corberan.Rene Hake, former Manchester United coach, has began talks, but no candidates have yet passed the interview stage. As a result, Brunt and Damia will make decisions on West Brom’s movements versus Bournemouth, and we should expect a new look in the XI.

Youngsters and periphery players are likely to get opportunities, especially after the Baggies were knocked out of the Carabao Cup for the first time in August. With that in mind, here is the starting lineup we believe will be announced at Vitality Stadium.

The former Derby County player has had to wait a long time for an opportunity, with his most recent outing in the Carabao Cup coming against Fleetwood in a 2-1 defeat.

RB: Deago Nelson

Brunt might give this Albion Academy graduate his first senior start. Nelson came off the bench at Fleetwood in August.

CB: Mason Holgate

Kyle Bartley will need to recuperate after playing so many games in a row over Christmas, therefore Holgate will likely get more minutes.

CB: Caleb Taylor

Taylor, who has been kept at the club rather being leased out again this season, might benefit from more playing time, and the FA Cup provides an excellent opportunity for that.

LB: Gianluca Frabotta

The Italian has been behind Torbjorn Heggem and Callum Styles in the Championship pecking order, although he has performed well off the bench on occasion.

CM: Uros Racic

Racic, who has been in and out of the lineup this season, could be chosen over Jayson Molumby and Ousmane Diakite.

CM: Alex Mowatt.

The playmaker returned from the bench at Swansea, and a start today could help him regain his full sharpness.

CAM: Harry Whitwell

Some youth in offensive midfield could provide Albion with new ideas to supply the strikers. Whitwell has five goals in seven Premier League 2 games thus far.

RM: Tom Fellows

Albion’s wonderkid hasn’t been in great form in recent weeks, but he’ll be more determined than anyone to make things right.

LM: Grady Diangana

Diangana, who is returning to action following a string of injuries and conditioning issues, will be eager to participate right away.

ST: Devante Cole

Cole, who has primarily served as a utility player this season, may have a good opportunity to impress if Josh Maja is moved out.
