Arsenal starts vying for the Everton player

Sunday afternoon sees Arsenal travel across London to take on West Ham United.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be eager to see his team improve in the upcoming weeks after the Gunners’ thrilling 3-1 victory over leaders Liverpool last time out preserved their chances of winning the Premier League title.

Though leading the standings for much of the season, the North London team ended last season as runners-up behind Manchester City.

While Arteta is expecting to do better this time, it also seems that the Spaniard is preparing for the summer transfer market.

Arsenal and Newcastle United, two other Premier League teams, are vying for the signing of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, according to Football Insider.

The Magpies have reportedly been scouting the Belgian midfielder for some time and are preparing a bid for him.

Onana, though, is now attracting interest from the Gunners as well, and they may challenge Newcastle for his services.

After moving to the Toffees from Lille in France in 2021, Onana, now 22 years old, has made 59 appearances for the team in all competitions.

Although the Belgium international has been a regular fixture on Merseyside this season, other teams have expressed interest in him due to his outstanding performances.

Onana is reportedly one of several potential targets for those in control of Arsenal’s hiring, including Arteta, who are eager to revamp their midfield this summer.

Onana is under contract with the Goodison Park team until the summer of 2027, and it is estimated that he cost Everton about £22 million when he joined the team in 2021.

The Belgian midfielder’s future on Merseyside may hinge, at least in part, on Dyche’s team’s ability to stay in the top flight at the end of the year.
