‘Incredible’ Manager Keen on Everton Job as Dyche Exit Details Emerge
David Moyes is willing to returning to Everton after Sean Dyche was fired only hours before the club’s match against Peterborough, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
In an unexpected change of events, the Toffees parted company with Dyche hours before the FA Cup third-round meeting, leaving club captain Seamus Coleman and former defender Leighton Baines in control.
However, the decision had been fermenting for some days, and The Friedkin Group is now planning a quick replacement as they attempt to escape relegation and go into their new stadium as a Premier League club.
Dyche met with the TFG for further talks.
Negotiations regarding severance payout lasted days.
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, The Friedkin Group decided this week if a mid-season change was required after the weekend’s 1-0 setback to Bournemouth, and they met with Dyche for negotiations.
During those discussions, the former Burnley manager informed the board that he believed he had carried Everton as far as he could, and TFG concurred, prompting them to decide that an urgent replacement was required. The new American owners have a lot of respect for Dyche and the work he has done at Goodison Park over the previous two years, but a change of management was deemed the wisest option given the circumstances.
That resulted in lengthy discussions over the previous several days over a compensation package, with Dyche refusing to leave from his post. GIVEMESPORT sources say that although a deal was reached, Dyche will not get the entire amount promised under his contract.
Dyche’s contract with the club was set to end in the summer, and succession planning was already underway, but The Friedkin Group is ready to find a new manager immediately, with a quick appointment planned.
According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Everton’s players were unaware of the situation until this afternoon, however some of Dyche’s backroom personnel said their goodbyes to non-playing staff before of the Peterborough game.
Moyes open to Everton’s return
Fonseca and Carsley are interested in the post, but Mourinho is not being considered.
With Everton looking for a speedy replacement, former manager and current free agent David Moyes, who has been praised as “incredible,” is a target, and GIVEMESPORT sources say he would be open to returning to the club where he spent 11 years before.
According to recent reports, Graham Potter was also a target, although insiders have disputed that he was ever officially asked for the role. On Thursday, he signed a two-and-a-half-year contract to take over at West Ham.
Jose Mourinho’s name has also been mentioned as a possible successor for Dyche, but GIVEMESPORT insiders say he is not a candidate and will not be considered for the position since his previous stint with The Friedkin Group at AS Roma did not go well.
Gareth Southgate is also regarded for the Everton manager’s position, although he has said that he does not want a mid-season duty, while former Roma manager Paulo Fonseca is also said to be interested in the position after leaving Milan last week.
