On Wednesday, we covered a news from Portugal that Brighton & Hove Albion has upped their offer to recruit Alberto Costa from Vitória de Guimarães.
After making an offer for the right-back at the start of the January transfer window, the Seagulls reportedly returned on Wednesday and offered €12 million to the Liga Portugal club.
Brighton were willing to leave Alberto Costa at Vitória de Guimarães until the end of the current season in exchange for a €2 million bonus package.
The Premier League club faces a challenge as the 21-year-old is already committed to Sporting and did not consider Brighton’s offer. Despite the fact that it had altered Vitória’s expectations for an asking price.
The Brighton measures appear to have irked Sporting.
According to Thursday’s edition of the Record, the English club has been’meddling’ and using’more powerful financial arguments’.
According to the Record, Alberto Costa is ‘determined’ to join Sporting, but’millions’ stand in his way. Their best offer so far is €9 million plus €2 million, which they want to pay over three seasons, beginning next year.
According to the newspaper, negotiations between Sporting and Vitória came to a halt yesterday but could resume any time.
O Jogo, representing Sporting, expresses confidence that Alberto Costa will soon join the club.
