Why Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace was ‘upset’ with Scott Parker after Burnley’s derby win
Scott Parker and John Eustace, the manager of Blackburn Rovers, got into a long full-time argument following Burnley’s derby victory.
Upon the referee blowing the full-time whistle, the two were captured on camera by Sky Sports having a somewhat vigorous argument.
It happened after the Clarets manager had gathered his coaching staff and substitutes to celebrate the 1-0 victory, turning to his bench.
Prior to the two shaking hands and exchanging angry words, the camera quickly shifts to Eustace.
Parker’s assistants Jonathan Hill and Mike Jackson then had to usher him away so that he could congratulate his players and celebrate with the supporters behind the goal.
The Burnley boss, who was asked about the incident by Sky Sports after the game, said: “He was just a little bit upset at the end because I didn’t shake his hand initially after full time.
“That’s probably down to my raw emotions at that moment and he was a little bit upset there John.
“But I obviously just explained and apologised for that, but as you can imagine sometimes in the raw emotion of games…at that moment I probably just forgot that.”
With the result, Burnley’s winning streak now stands at 13 and they are only one point behind leaders Leeds United, who drew 3–3 with Hull City.
In the meantime, Sheffield United levelled the score with Parker’s team after defeating Watford 2-1 on the road.
