Leeds United attacker due to return to Elland Road in January amid new loan update

Leeds United attacker Luca Thomas has extended his loan spell at York City, as announced by their official club website.

Leeds United have extended the youngster’s spell with the National League club until January.

Thomas, 20, joined the Minstermen in October to gain non-league experience. He has since impressed Adam Hinshelwood’s team as they seek promotion to the Football League.

The prospect has made five appearances in all competitions, four of which have been in the league, and has scored once.

In the most recent update on his condition at the LNER Community Stadium, the Whites stated that he has been given permission to remain there this winter.

York City are now second in the table, two points behind Forest Green Rovers, as they prepare for their upcoming encounter against Yeovil Town.

Thomas has done well at York City thus far, and his stint in the fifth tier will benefit his growth.
He will be eager to receive plenty of game time in the coming weeks.
When his loan expires, Leeds United will need to decide what to do with him next.

Thomas progressed through Manchester City’s academy and played for the Premier League club at several youth levels.
In 2021, he joined Leeds United and made his debut for the club’s Under-18s.

The Crewe native has lately played for their Under-21 team, where he has 12 goals in 30 competitive appearances.

Thomas has yet to appear for the Whites’ first team, but he hopes his first loan at York City will improve his prospects of playing for Daniel Farke’s side in the future.

What now?

Leeds United are aiming for promotion back to the Premier League and are currently third in the Championship table, trailing only Sunderland and Sheffield United.
They triumphed 2-0 at home against QPR before the international break and will look to maintain their momentum as they face Swansea City away this weekend.

York City fell 2-0 to Forest Green Rovers the last time out and will be eager to get back on track as quickly as possible.
