As fans have spoken out, Urs Fischer has emerged as another candidate for the vacant West Brom manager position.

The seasoned Swiss coach, 58, has been out of management since 2023 but has an impressive CV that includes three domestic trophies with Basel and a five-year stay at Union Berlin, where he led the German side from the second level to the Champions League. The Baggies are still looking for a long-term replacement for Carlos Corberan, who left for Valencia on Christmas Eve. Chris Brunt is currently in interim control at The Hawthorns.

West Brom fans buzzing over Fischer links

Albion supporters have perked up after hearing a rollercoaster of developments since Corberan’s departure, with Fischer described as an outsider but still in the running. As of Tuesday afternoon, Fischer is 11/1 with Sky Bet to take over at The Hawthorns, with only three coaches at lower odds: Raphael Wicky, John Eustace, and Steven Schumacher. Supporters have turned to X to express their opinions, the vast majority of which appear to be strongly in favour of the decorated Swiss.
