Cowboys’ Mike McCarthy feels good after surgery, set to coach
Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy is back at The Star two days after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix.
He stated he will be calling plays on the sidelines Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.
During his scheduled conference call on Friday, McCarthy stated, “I feel good and anticipate everything staying normal Sunday night.”
McCarthy claimed that for the previous week or two, he had been suffering from a stomach virus.
However, on Wednesday, he came at the facility, met with chief athletic trainer Jim Maurer, and proceeded to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with appendicitis. He underwent surgery a few hours later.
By Wednesday night, he was conversing with quarterback Dak Prescott and the assistant coaches. He held virtual talks with players and staff on Thursday.
“I’m sure I’m as sore as you’re supposed to be Day 2 post-op,” McCarthy stated. She said, “Once I was released from the hospital, I’ve been totally engaged in the game plan.”
He stated that additional medical approval is not required for him to teach from the sidelines, but he
will pay closer attention to his surroundings when players are approaching him during plays.
He promised to keep an eye on his workload on Friday and Saturday to make sure he doesn’t experience any difficulties.
He doesn’t think that his absence distracted the team before such a crucial game against the Eagles.
“It’s obvious why I thought returning here was so crucial. Anyone who has worked with me or knows me would attest to the fact that I’m the last person who wants to draw focus away from the players,” McCarthy remarked.
This is a game for the players. My entire programme is based on that idea.
I have to come back in here and start working right away to make sure that everything is back to normal since everything that comes into contact with the locker room is extremely crucial.
I do think the coaches and players deserve a lot of credit for simply staying.
