You can’t miss it’ – Ex-PL ref reacts to Rangers incident v Livi live on Sky Sports

Dermot Gallagher cannot believe controversial incident in Rangers v Livingston

Dermot Gallagher feels that defender Connor Goldson should have been called for a foul during the build-up that resulted in the opening Rangers goal against Livingston.

The former Premier League referee said the 31-year-old went “very high” with his boot and caught David Carson before Fabio Silva

swept the ball home in the 3-0 triumph, in an interview with Sky Sports’ Ref Watch on Monday, February 5.

He continued by saying that if the referee had witnessed the play, the goal would not have been allowed since the English center-back

had committed a “clear foul” on the midfield player at Ibrox.

Gallagher remarked, “Goldson goes very high with his boot and catches him in the thigh.” “The referee just doesn’t call a foul if he sees that he will call one.”

Jay Bothroyd said, “If you see that anywhere else on the pitch, it’s going to be a foul, even a yellow card.”

“Once you see it, it’s impossible to miss,” Gallagher answered. “It’s an obvious foul.”

Rangers got away with one against Livingston

Without a doubt, Goldson committed an illegal play because he lost control and caught Carson while he was attempting to get the ball.

Although there was nothing nasty about it, if you were the opposing team, that is exactly the kind of decision you would be hoping to win.

Surprisingly, despite reviewing the situation, VAR chose not to interfere and instead let the goal to be awarded.

The fact that Silva scored his first goal for the team and put the Gers on the path to three points was, however, the most crucial thing for the team.

Due to injuries sustained by some of the other attacking players, the 21-year-old Portuguese will need to contribute significantly over

the next few months in order to help the Light Blues win additional titles.
